The Tao of Poo: A Night of Poop Humor and Poop Culture @ 8:00
Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia
On June 2, I'll be joining four Philadelphia comedians at the Fleischer Art Memorial for an evening of history, cultural analysis, and the kind of cringe-inducing bathroom stories that everyone seems to have (but few are brave enough to actually reveal in public).
At The Tao of Poo, I'll follow each comedian's story -- be it the unfortunate confluence of rush-hour traffic and IBS, or a sadistic gastroenterologist's solution to constipation -- with the insight and understanding that can only come from one of the foremost experts on the subject of human waste. I'll provide a fascinating yin to cleanse the air of the comedians' unsettling yang, discussing subjects like:
The history of the toilet as an ideological apparatus
The environmental dangers of the sewage infrastructure
Why bathroom tissue is marketed with teddy bears
The disgusting truth about toilet paper
The psychological trauma of potty training
And much, much more
Admission is $5 at the door, parking is free, the show is all ages, and there may even be an open mic for brave audience members to share their own horror stories.
Confirmed comedians include Gregg Gethard, Fran Dolan, Brian Hansens, and Pat Kelly.
The Fleisher Art Memorial is at 719 Catharine Street. Directions are here.
